On the initiatives of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has taken up an ambitious Special Accelerated Road Development Programme (SARDP-NE) for development of road network in the north eastern States of the Country. This programme envisages providing road connectivity to all the district headquarters in the north eastern region by minimum 2 lane highway standards apart from providing road connectivity to backward and remote areas, areas of strategic importance and neighbouring countries. Programme planned in two phases (A & B) including Arunachal Package, Phase-A is under progress and Phase-B is in conceptual stage.
The Total Length identified under SARDP-NE is 892.822 Km. There are 9(nine) Numbers of projects identified under Phase 'A' with a total length of 715.822 Km and 3 Numbers identified under Phase ‘B’ with a total length of 177.000 Km.
The Ongoing projects under Phase 'A' as Implemented by NHAI are 2(two) Numbers with a total length of 110.566 km and a total amount of Rs. 762.00 cr. and 1(one) number is completed.
The Ongoing projects under Phase 'A' Implemented by State PWD are 2 (two) Numbers with a total length of 272.297 km and a total sanctioned amount of Rs. 2366.056 cr.
There are 1(one) Numbers of the Project under Phase 'A' which is still under Consultancy Services for preparation of DPR with a total length of 69.50 km and a total sanction amount of Rs. 35.53 (L).
There are 4(four) Numbers of projects with a total length of 263.364 km amounting to Rs. 1994.90 cr to be Implemented by National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (N.H.I.D.C.L.).
